Catholic Extension will present its Spirit of Francis Award to Houston philanthropist, Raye G. White on February 17, at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston. The Catholic Extension Spirit of Francis Award recognizes an individual or group who has made a significant impact on the mission of the Catholic Church in America through service or philanthropy. Spirit of Francis Award recipients are laudable for their commitment “to reach out to the margins of society” in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis, and the founder of Catholic Extension, Father Francis Clement Kelley. Proceeds from this Spirit of Francis Award Dinner will benefit rural mission Churches in Texas. The Spirit of Francis Award was first presented in 2014 to best-selling author, Mary Higgins Clark in New York City. Since then, the award dinner has been held annually in Chicago, Houston and recently in New York honoring Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York for his commitment to the Catholic church in Cuba.
